Making our House a Home Part 1

In case the last post was tooooo long (which it was) and you did not make it to the end, Jeffrey and I bought a house in December! It is our first house and we know the lord picked this one perfectly for us. We have been looking at houses since we got married. Jeffrey wanted us to be very sure when we made this huge decision. I am thankful we had been looking so long because we knew exactly when it was right.  We absolutely love living in Grapevine and new that is where we wanted to stay. The neighborhood is behind the high school and has been around since the 70's. It has tons of trees, friendly people and just feels like home. The house we bought is on this quaint street and has had lots of updates already done. We knew whatever home we bought we would want to put our own touch on. Luckily we have our rental house in downtown Grapevine until the end of February so we can get most of our updates done before we even move in. So far we (Jeffrey) has scraped all the ceilings of popcorn, removed all the carpet, taken off all the baseboards and paneling in the living room, and painted three rooms. We have had some very awesome friends come over and help him with these many projects. We are so thankful to them. The contractors have now come in and removed all the kitchen appliances and counter tops, cut a whole in our wall (for a pantry), removed all the stuff from the guest bathroom and textured all the ceilings. Here are some pictures of the progress..

I have since gone to the house and taken more pictures of some other changes and will post those in my next post!

Up next, the contractors will paint the kitchen cabinets, put in counter tops and back splash, build our pantry, fill in holes in walls, spray baseboards, doors and frames, re tile guest bathroom as well as install new appliances. As this is going on we will be finishing painting and laying floors. We are aiming to move in February 28. I cannot wait to see how it all turns out.. stay tuned for pictures of our work and this entire process!

Thankful for our home,

MJ

Weekend on the River

This past weekend we got to spend it on the Guadalupe river. It was just the get away we needed in the midst of all that is going on. We went with some very special people to us (Krista, James, Coco and Cary). We got to enjoy the beautiful hill country and a peaceful day with friends. I even finished an entire book! Crazy for me! We hiked, ran, kayaked, ate well, played games, enjoyed the outdoors, had deep conversation and laughed a lot. I was in awe of the beautiful scenery god put before us. We also came to the realization that we waste a lot of time on the weekends here, we fill up our weekends with errands, checking things off our to do list, scheduling events and just wasting time. We really do have a lot of time on the weekends and I hope that we can start to really use that time wisely. All in all though it is always nice to enjoy a weekend away with people you love!

Thankful for time away,

MJ
