Spring has Sprung (sort of)

Happy early Spring!!!!

Well even though it is not March and not officially spring it has sort of sprung a little early at the Jones house. I left work to 82 sunny blue skies and it just sort of put some bounce in my step. I headed to Target and went a little spring crazy. I got some cute new things to put around our house (considering we have no holiday decor) this is a great start. I even got bunny ears for Jeffrey, Carrey and I to wear in D.C for EASTER!!! I figure this way we can enjoy spring decor a little longer than usual.  Plus all the bright colors are so fun! Next up set a spring table (wish me luck)!

Thankful for beautiful weather,

FAT TUESDAY

So Yesterday was my first day at my new job and it went GREAT! Missed my DZ co workers but was very welcomed by the new staff. I had completely forgotten yesterday was FAT TUESDAY so when I got home and realized it, Jeffrey and I decided to WALK (yes I said walk..we have been dying to walk to Main street from our house and the weather was perfect for it) this local sea food joint on Main street called BIG FISH! We were greeted with beads and live music! We waited a lot longer than I expected, but it was worth the wait once we tasted the crawfish! It was a great evening celebrating with my sweet husband!

Thankful for unexpected date nights,

"Date Night's"

Saturday night we had two "DATES"!!

The first one consisted of one of my dear friends from work Anika and her husband Jayson. We had pizza and dessert at our house then headed to see the Vow. It was a great night filled with even better company. We love the JUSTS

Then our friend Carry from D.C. had a flight cancellation so we picked him up and went to get some drinks. He is so fun to be around and always makes me laugh! It was a nice surprise to see him and made us even more excited for our trip to D.C. in April.

Thankful for sweet friends,

MJ

Bittersweet

Today is my last day at de Zavala, the only school I have ever worked at. So naturally leaving it is very hard. It is hard to leave the familiar. It is hard to leave all I have known for the past two and half years. I have been blessed to work with some incredible people here, some that have truly changed my life. I have gained incredible friendships, and for that I am truly thankful and sad to leave. I know that God's timing and planning is way better than I could ever do, but I was not expecting to leave mid year. I know that he has it all under control and so I am resting in peace knowing that God will not take me where I am not ready. It is hard, sad, and exciting all at the same time. I am blessed that this door has opened up for me to begin my career as a counselor and so excited to hit the ground running. So even though today leaves me feeling a bit sad I know that the friendships I have made will be ones that continue on no matter where I work and for that I am truly grateful. So here's to the end of one chapter and the beginning of another.

Not so good at change,

MJ

Happy Valentines Day

Happy Valentine's Day!!!
<3 The Joneses

So I absolutely love VALENTINES DAY! I think it is just a fun holiday mainly because of all the colors. Do not get me wrong there were times that I despised the day devoted to love, but now that I have a permanent Valentine it makes it that much sweeter. I hope that everyone of you has a day filled with LOVE. Below are some sweet pictures of the blessings that have filled my day with love.

The Cute headband my mom made me to wear to work today!

Wine Trail with the Joneses

PREPARE YOURSELF THIS IS A LONG ENTRY

This past weekend was an action packed weekend. It hit the ground running at 4:30 when I picked Jeffrey up from his week long trip to Minnesota. We went to the bakery to pick up some sweets for our special guests: Rich, Cathey and Judy. They drove in from Amarillo to celebrate birthday's, valentine's day and just because. It was the first time they stayed in our home and we had such a blast hosting them. Friday night we went to Birthday dinner at a little Italian place by our house that is BYOB. We ended the evening by watching our amazing wedding video (side note: if you are looking for a videographer I highly recommend Wink & Smile out of Waco, Tx). It was so fun to remember the day all over again.

Saturday we woke up and had a huge homestyle breakfast at another place near our house. Cathey and I had to leave early to make it to our appointment at the Dry Bar in Frisco. Which I had heard very mixed messages about. Luckily we had an incredible experience. They were super friendly, greeted us with drinks, washed, dried and styled our hair exactly the way we wanted. We even got some new product and hair accessories out of the trip. I definitely want to make another trip there very soon.

After the Dry Bar we met the boys up to start our Sweetheart wine trail tour through downtown Grapevine. We had such a blast strolling up and down main street. We tasted lots of fun wine, ate yummy food and did some shopping as well. If you have never done the wine trail in Grapevine I highly suggest it. It was the best Valentines date ever! We will most definitely be participating in this again very very soon. We ended the night with a lovely make up experience at Nordstrom and yummy pizza from Coalvines.

The super fun bracelet I got on the trail (Thanks Jor)

Sunday we woke up and Rich cooked us a yummy breakfast. We then headed to church for our Man vs Series. It was a great message on Man vs. Envy and how it is all a heart issue. So this week I am really working on knowing that I am an envious person and that is because it is a heart problem.
After church we went on the Baylor Women's Council home tour through Colleyville and Grapevine. It was a fun way to support Baylor scholarships. We then had to say goodbye to Rich and Cathey which is the worst part. I really wish we all lived closer, but am so thankful for the time we do get to spend with them. We are truly blessed to have such amazing family.

After they left Jeffrey and I quickly ran to the grocery store to prepare for community group that evening. We were having a cookie exchange and each couple had to bring homemade cookies along with the recipe. It was such a fun way to try a lot of different cookies. It was actually a contest and we had to vote on each others cookies. Our's did not win, but at least most of them were gone by the end of the evening (thats a good sign right?)

We had a great night of fellowship and spending time applying the sermon for the week to our lives. Really focusing on the memory verse this week and spending time in prayer for a more content heart.

"For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice." James 3:16

Thankful,

MJ

Missing my Sweet Hubby

Jeffrey left Sunday for an entire WEEK! He is in Minnesota on business. It has been great to get to stay at my moms for two days,  and have one of my best friends sleep over! BUT I really miss him :( This is the longest we have been apart since he moved home from Minnesota. It makes me thankful for all the time we do get to spend together and it is a good reminder to never take that for granted. I cannot wait until Friday at 4:30 when I get to pick him up at DFW. So today give the person you love an extra hug or kiss and enjoy the time you get to spend with them.

Thankful that God blessed with Jeffrey,

MJ

Weekend Fun

This weekend was fun filled, busy and productive! It started off with Annie and I hitting the road to Waco. We got there in time to have dinner at Georges with Jeffrey, James, Krista and Lauren. It was so great to be back on the patio at Georges. It was also weird to not really know anyone there on a Friday night (missing college for a few moments). We then got back in our car for another 30 minute drive to Moody, Texas to watch Nathan's basketball team. Even though they didn't take away a W it was great to see him coach! Here's some pics from the night (notice Annie broke into a school bus)

We then said good-bye to Annie and Nathan and headed to Mansfield to spend the night with the Jeffrey's. We had a very relaxing Saturday morning: working out, eating donuts, running errands, cheering for the bears and cooking lunch. Then Jeffrey and I headed home to start getting ready to put some finishing touches on our house! Below are some preview pictures of some of the projects we are working on at our first home. I will post the finish products as soon as I get them done! Hope you enjoy!

This is our wedding song lyrics put onto canvas that will go into a huge frame (more pics later)

Wedding photos that I turned into DIY canvas. They will also go in a frame (pics to come)

The new table we bought at the dump, the window from Junque in the Trunk..lots more to do!

The start of our J wall which is now I on the wall :)

Cute new fridge magnet from my mom!

Burlap throw pillow for our bed!

Then sadly Jeffrey had to leave for Minnesota for the week to work. I decided I did not like to stay alone so I packed my bags and came to stay with my mom. We ran errands all afternoon and had our own super bowl party complete with snacks, a fire and a break to watch our wedding video which we got today. Side note: If you ever question whether or not to record your wedding DO IT! To see our highlight video look on my fb for the link I posted earlier. We made Onion soup, pimento cheese and popcorn! It was just the two of us and we had a great relaxing evening together. I hope that everyone else had a great first weekend of February. Until next time remember to count your blessings always!

Thankful,

MJ
